Indiana Annie and the Great Stupa

So Leigh Anna's birthday was this Tuesday, May 5 (Don't ask) but we celebrated on Friday. I was ridiculed for not doing anything last year so with little guidance, and even less money I set out to make a memorable birthday. I decided to do 2 things that we have never done, even though we said countless times that we should do it. You know those conversations that start, "you know what we should do some time?..." So that's how the adventure began. Keep in mind that we did all this in one day.

First, after completing her end of the deal, I woke up early to attempt to make Aebelskivers for breakfast in bed. I did my best and actually got a good consistency but burned a few of them, but its the thought that counts. They were decent.

So then it was adventure stop #1, even though we have been here many times before we (even though I learned that she had) had never taken the Coors Field tour. So our first stop was 20th and Blake.

Heres some behind the scenes shots. We even got to go on the field and sit (and spit) in the Rockies dugout. We walked around the Rockies side of the tunnel, saw the instant replay box and got some schwag. Joseph even played some baseball while on the diamond. It was very cool. Here is a shot of us on the field, but the guy up in the stands, talking onthe phone is Clint Barmes, the Rockies second baseman. Wonder who he is talking to? Still it was cool, and at the end of the tour, they gave Joseph the best gift anyone can give him- a ball. He's been quite endowed with balls lately.

As a result of phase one of the Adventure, I have uploaded some songs to the playlist here. the songs are all songs of Rockies players that are played as they come to bat. "These are my People" is Todd Helton, the Rockies best player. "Rockstar" is Brad Hawpe, the right fielder. Also have Matt Holiday's song, the best player in all of baseball before he was traded.

After that, we broke briefly for lunch and to gear up for the grand adventure which involved a lot of driving. There is a back story on this one. As college students in Fort collins, somehow we obtained a flyer for the Great Stupa, a buddhist shrine located in the Rockie Mountains. We always vowed to go, but each weekend we never found the time and something would come up. I never forgot those moments, so I decided, now or never, with the hopethat it wouldn't become the Great Stupid. So we got in the car and burned a whole tank of gas, but we made it to the Great Stupa.

I have taken some photos of me at the Stupa, there are many ore photos but I am tired of waiting for them to load. Perhaps Leigh Anna will write her take on it.
